(To move this discussion off the actual announce list.) Please keep the announce list. I am sure there are many others who share the same sentiment as Nils. Personally, I have no interest whatsoever in subscribing to the users or dev list (though I have temporarily bitten the bullet to post this message). However, I would like to keep tabs on Groovy releases as they happen.
