Thanks a lot! The missing link in my setting was the Options tab: I left "Streaming source transform" and "Streaming target transform" empty. Additionally, filling out a "Data grid" transform in the template pipeline does not seem to be possible. Still the initial problem is still not completely solved in my opinion: after the new fields are generated, after and "outside" of the "ETL metadata injection" transform they are unavailable for any subsequent steps and their "Get fields" buttons. Using "Copy rows to result" inside and "Get rows from result" after the "ETL MDI" transform does not retrieve the rows neither.
