All I can tell you is that most of the recent work on mod_cache has
gone into 2.1, so there is a real chance that the 2.0 version will
never get all the fixes.  So you have a choice between stable and
broken or unstable and working.

Highly unlikely.  It would probably be easier to port 2.0 modules
forward to 2.1 then to bring mod_cache back to 2.0, because mod_cache
is a very complex module that makes use of advanced features in httpd
and apr.
