I don't know that a specific protocol module exists got IIOP, but binary protocols are certainly possible. You can look at the sources for mod_dns, which is a binary protocol module. It's currently available at http://www.beamartyr.net/mod-dns-1.02.tar.bz2 and will shortly be available at http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/dns (or somewhere in that vicinity)
