I decided to install Apache by compiling from source since this is the way I have always done it in the past and as noted in one response, it is nice to know exactly what you are running.
I ran into the rather odd result that the Apache APR files are not valid. Specifically, I downloaded the apr files from the Apache web site: file apr-1.7.4.tar.bz2 apr-1.7.4.tar.bz2: HTML document, ASCII text, with very long lines file apr-1.7.4.tar.gz apr-1.7.4.tar.gz: HTML document, ASCII text, with very long lines Where can I get valid files for APR?
