Hi, I believe JDK1.5 will enable IPv6 on the Windows platform.
As part of some GGF work I'm also considering the issues for the Java API. In addition to raw platform support, the other main issue is the features of the API, e.g. having the JDK API allow the Flow Label field to be written (as an example). As I understand it, the current API is elementary, and includes features such as setting IPv4 or IPv6 preference. Java API changes can be made through a formal process within the community. (As an example, Globus Toolkit 3 uses the OGSA, and is built on Java, if you are looking for projects - we are looking at IPv6 operation of GT3).
