+1, change Isis rather than Spiro.  The learning curve (given you are a
Java programmer) will be much shallower.

Also, if you can wait, I'll be enhancing the RO viewer in a couple of
months to address these sorts of issues (when we start on our next-gen
Angular-based viewer).
