Interesting! But for another reason...
XForms, using XSLTForms for example, hints at ways that we can provide
stand-alone views or possibly "dumb" editors (relative term) of the XML
files.

However, I still feel this is addressing a different problem (supporting
an editor that integrates with other services, e.g. audit trails,
authorization, executing validation)...
