Hi List, I sympathize with the fact the CND format is (much) shorter than the xml format. Yet, I was wondering 1/ where Jackrabbit is going in the future & and (perhaps most important)
2/ whether the 2 formats (CND AND XML) will remain fully supported in the future. As for xml, a few (valid) args can also be given: 1/ Ease of Use: autocompletion in IDEs Certainly for beginners like me, this is a true added value. Look e.g. at the Jackrabit doc now: wat are the exact options for the "onParent" attr? The "full grammar" does indeed give all attributes, yet not only for onparent.(all attrs are currently thrown on one pile) --> No way to e.g. now which applies for onParent. I am left with having to guess. In my IDE, using XML, this is not true. 2/ Less Error-Prone: IDEs also automatically check for wel formedness (finding out during startup being obviously less attractive) 3/ Faster Cycles: Lots of setup is already done in XSD. (eg. administrations having defined a valid doc structure by leveraging XSD) Reuse in a JCR becomes more self-obvious. ... Wolf
