As you mentioned, the main unresolved problem is correct handling of the version history. I'd be happy to assist if someone wants to take up the effort, but as of now we have nobody actively working on it. As an alternative, you may want to take a look at JCR-891 for an alternative import/export tool. BR, Jukka Zitting
