Can anyone explain me how to change version from 1.0 to 2.0

Hi,
        Whenever I am adding the revision version of the file . The 
version changes from 1.0 to 1.1 . But in some situation I want the version 
to change from 1.0 to 2.0 . Can anyone explain me how to do it? Code 
snippet will help a lot.
