Lifecycle Support in SPI

Hi,

I notice that lifecycle is not supported for SPI. 
org.apache.jackrabbit.jcr2spi.NodeImpl#getAllowedLifecycleTransistions() just 
throws UnsupportedRepositoryOperationException.
Is there any specific reason for this?
