Note that what you're doing sounds fairly similar to the goals of Apache Sling, i.e. provide an HTTP-based interface to content repositories - http://sling.apache.org/documentation/getting-started/discover-sling-in-15-minutes.html will give you an overview of how that works. -Bertrand
