We don't want the polling to timeout if that's what your suggesting... unless setting the timeout to a negative number would accomplish this? I don't have a definitive explanation for why the polling gets disrupted by spikes in network traffic... but regardless, I'm not sure what role a timeout would play in that. If you can point me to this jcr2spi configuration options (assuming it's still valid) I can take a look.
