You asked that "Jena 3 evaluates" swapping from using Apache HTTPClient. Jena3 had been out for 6 months when you wrote and 2 days after Jena 3.0.1.

I asked:

Not properly yet. I've proposed "RDF Connection" which is not in the Jena
codebase at the moment.
