It works fine with Java 8 on windows and Linux.
Java9 shouldn't make a difference.
The only limitation is that build does not work on Java9 because all the
maven plugins haven't caught up, at least when I last tried (wjena gets
them via the general Apache Foundation parent POM). This hasn't seem
urgent so I didn't try to override the plugin versions as that would
just have to be undone sometime.
