I would be interested to hear what you find out about using owlapi with Jena.  If there is a relatively straightforward way to integrate it to broaden the formats supported with Jena, that would be a useful contribution to the community.  The brass ring would be to also enable use of reasoners via the owlapi reasoner interface.
