The SMSC I am connected to apparently doesn't support 60-series
operations.
Is there any way i can make kannel use 50-series operations instead?

It is alphanumeric.
Do you think it makes a difference?

Is your username alphanumeric ?

The code of emi2 just encodes a numeric username, we have to
see if emi specs say something about encoding alphanumeric
usernames.

I'm always using numric usernames (usually the short code)

Hi List

I'm using Kannel 1.1.5 on a Linux machine.
I'm trying to connect to a CMG UCP interface.
This is my configuration:

group = smsc
smsc = emi2
host = smsc.maingate.se
port = 5001
smsc-username = **********
smsc-password = **********
receive-port = 9171
connect-allow-ip = 195.67.90.149

When i start Kannel I get the following error:

2001-11-12 13:43:24 [0] DEBUG: smsc_emi2: start called
