From your logs it doesn't look like the modem was started properly - you should see a line stating "AT SMSC successfuly opened", which means that Kannel started the modem properly. otherwise, Kannel failed to connect and of course won't send or receive messages. check your configuration files - if they are as you posted this time, then these are not correct - you must have empty lines between groups.   -- Oded Arbel m-Wise Inc.
