My configuration for the n30 is included in that mail message. Right now I am using Kannel version 1.3.0 without problems.

I don't know about triband modems, but earlier on this mailing list I told how to use Nokia 30. There is also Nokia model 31, which is dual band (850/1900) terminal for the US markets. Do you think this would be suitable for you?
