Are you referring to the PDUs **before** they arrive to the modem? Notice that, typically, when you send an SMS (TPDU-SUBMIT) thru' a GSM modem, the modem ignores the Message Reference (TP-MR) you provide and sends a value of its own (namely, the modem stores a modulo-255 counter in the SIM card and uses that counter to retrieve the actual TP-MR value). So when you send an SMS, you can safely set Message Reference = 0 (or any other value you prefer: it will simply ignored). The actual Message Reference value will be returned by the modem in the +CGMS response. Clear or was I too "technical"?
