Connecting to operator MMSCs in the UK

Hi gang,   Slightly off-topic, but is anyone here connecting to a UK operator's MMSC with a direct IP connection of some sort? Orange have advised that they are testing a product that'll allow this, but it won't be available until sometime in the first half of next year. Haven't spoken to O2 etc yet, but thought I'd ask before hammering the phone :-)   Alex
