Hi Chen ? (sorry not sure how your name works) Don't spam the list too much with logfiles etc.. I know it's tricky starting up can be hard to figure out exactly qhat question you need to ask.

Is the speed too fast? Try setting to 19200 or 9600 in kannel .conf file ? Port permissions are okay? (probably should be as kannel reports it can open device) Can you talk to your modem using minicom or hyperterm or other serial terminal utility? see attached (post recently on adding support for undocumented modem/card) so get talking to your modem somehow first then try get kannel to work, okay I've got to do some real work now :) bye James. But I found it easy enough to add support for undocumented mobile ..... (though this mobiles behaviour is very close to existing supported siemens). Fire up minicom, if you're on linux or hyperterm or whatever equivalent and talk to your modem: AT should receive OK AT+CGMI Issue manufacturer ID code AT+CGMM Issue model ID code AT+CGMR Output the GSM telephone version AT+CGSN Output the serial number (IMEI) AT+GSN Output the serial number (IMEI) as example from siemens c45 the above commands resulted in: SIEMENS S45 21 350170519177189 350170519177189 then to find out the format of the CNMI type "AT+CNMI=?" AT+CNMI=? +CNMI: (0-1),(0-3),(0,2),(0-2),(1) The init-string line in modem config must be within these parameters. init-string = "AT+CNMI=1,2,0,0,1" Reading the documentation for your card should allow you to deduce what this init string should be. Also you may want to do other commands: AT+CPIN? AT+CSMS=? depending on what you see in your logfiles initially I didn't specify init string so the default was used and in bearerbox log: 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] INFO: AT2[mobile]: init device 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] INFO: AT2[mobile]: speed set to 9600 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT^M 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- OK 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT&F^M 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- OK 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> ATE0^M 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- ATE0 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- OK 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT+IFC=2,2^M 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- ERROR 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] INFO: AT2[mobile]: cannot enable hardware handshake 2004-05-05 12:27:45 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT+CPIN?^M 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- +CPIN: READY 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- OK 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT+CMGF=0^M 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [5] DEBUG: Started thread 9 (gw/bb_boxc.c:function) 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [9] INFO: Client connected from <127.0.0.1> 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- OK 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT+CSMS=?^M 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [9] DEBUG: Started thread 10 (gw/bb_boxc.c:boxc_sender) 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- +CSMS: (0,1) 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- OK 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] INFO: AT2[mobile]: Phase 2+ is supported 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT+CSMS=1^M 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- +CSMS: 1,1,1 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- OK 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: --> AT+CNMI=1,2,0,1,0^M 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] DEBUG: AT2[mobile]: <-- ERROR 2004-05-05 12:27:46 [7] ERROR: AT2[mobile]: Opening failed.
