FYI, it doesn't seem to be a case of connection re-establishment because AFAIK Kannel always sends a login request (O60) on reconnection.
The situation seems bit strange but you can try enabling the EMI UCP keepalive option whereby a Keepalive (O30) packets is periodically sent on the established connection. If this option is already set, try reducing the interval between two keepalive packets. A better way is to talk to your carrier for the exact value to be set.

My kannel box goes quite ok, but sometimes I get a:
"NACK Message not accepted waiting for password" message from my smsc (Emi Ucp connection).
 
I think that in some circumstances the connection is lost and re-established without authentication so the box give sms but the sms refuse to send them.
Is there a way to check/solve this ?
