Delay of Sending Msg

Hi,
   Im using kannel 1.4.0, with SMPP, sometimes, kannel has some kinda 
of error from the smsc for sending the message, and he trys to send the 
message again, again and again.... i want to set a limit that kannel 
onlys try to send 4 messages and get a fail status for that message.
   Is it possible ?
