I do a restart weekly but that's because of the way we use to rotate logs, not for any kind of leaks. I've run 1.3.x and 1.4.x for months on FC1, FC2  and Centos 3.3 and never experienced an unexpected crash.That's handling over 100K messages/day over 10 SMPP connections.
 
Note: I'm using it just the SMS Gateway, not the WAP Part.
