@ is 0x00 in GSM Alphabet in fact.

If you're not sure/can't get alt-dcs to work with your carrier, try
sending an "@" to Kannel from a phone and check on the access.log to
see how it comes. It should work both ways, so if you receive a NULL
char, send "%00" to get the "@" on the terminal.
