That's not possible by design, and there are strong reasons to do it that way.

The main issue is that the SMSC may or not reply inmediatly. If the
latter happens, you'd start opening more and more socket connections
and would run out of sockets and/or file descriptors.

What the smsbox acknowledges is the delivery of the message to the
bearerbox. If you need acknowledgment from the SMSC, you must use
DLR's.
