I just installed Kannel 1.4.0 on FC3 this week. I have tested functionality
with the provided wapkannel.conf configuration using fakewap. Traffic
appears to be passing correctly between fakewap <--> bearerbox <--> wapbox
<--> web_server. I have both html and wml test files on web_server, which
are have successfully been returned to fakewap when requested.
My question is this: Kannel provides the WAP gateway. It does not provide
dynamic translation from HTML to WML, correct? Is there a portion of Kannel
that I have missed that provides this functionality, or do I need to find
another solution to provide the dynamic translation to WML? Or would it be
better to make 'static' copies of the HTML files in WML format? Is this
translation something that would typically be done by the end-point web
server, and not a proxy somewhere between the client and the end-point web
server?
