Maybe I can shed some light on this. SQLBox checks every second on items in the queue table. If there are no items, it sleeps for another second. If there ARE items, no sleeping is done and SQLBox continues with the next message.
It's been a long time since I've even looked at the code though. So correct me if I am wrong.
