Use CVS HEAD, there are known problems with 1.4.0 on 64bit platforms.
Hopefully 1.4.1 will be available soon, which will fix this issue, among
with a plethora of others.
yep, please consider Enver's suggestion here to move towards CVS HEAD version,
which is a concret 1.4.1RC (stable) "release candidate".
There have been several bug fixes for 64bit architectures since 1.4.0.
