Ringtone/Picture messages are usually binary messages and they provide
means for the phone to reassemble the parts when they arrive.

A regular SMS does not have the same means, though, so anything over
160 chars gets lost. You can tell kannel to send multiple messages
using a somewhat similar binary format, so you should be able to do
it, as long as your SMSC provider supports it.

Keep also in mind that if you're using a link with a third party
provider (SMPP for example), you may have problems sending more than
one MT per MO received, since many carriers limit that to a single MT
per MO to avoid abuse. If you're billing by MT this may pose also a
problem.

Check the user guide for "max-messages"and "concatenation", you may
get some more light about the issue.
