Cygwin 1.5.x (what is version 2.457?????) has definetly something internally
broken in the pthreads implementation causing Kannel to run UNSTABLE on top of
Cygwin on Win32.
You can easily trigger segfaults on Cygwin by putting a high load on
smsbox+bearerbox torwards fakesmsc, or even reduce interval time for fakesmsc'ed
MOs that drastically that fakesmsc itself crashes.
There must be something wrong in pthreads there.
Final words: You can use Cygwin for prelimnary testing, BUT DON'T USE IT FOR
PRODUCTION IN ANY CASE!
Someone should get into this deeper to give the poor Cygwin core developers
(Corinna, Christopher, Mumit) a helping hand in triggering the pthread bugs down.
