Well my Kannel usage has been very light over the last few years and and I've not been working on this very much I have a collegue who is currently looking at an sms solution in a semi serious production environment.
I have set this up a few times for myself but I never produced a *production* environment. I wanted to ask a couple of questions before I go down this route. 1) Whats the best bet for a Linux distribution? I would like to run some visual environment ( aka windows) I know enough about Linux to be dangerous but sometimes I need the editor etc to do the file copy stuff. I've been using unbunto on another project to I think SUSE and RED Hat might be better. IT will be running on some inexpensive Dell Kit 2) The network (Lan) is a little Flakey Whats the best bet for a sim card based solution rather than a smsc 3) I don't want my collegue to have fiddle around to much so I need to be able clear down anything received 4) Its going to operate a subscription service, probably on a php webserver running on the box. Message Received -> Store/Delete Cell number in DB against record Re-Distribute Message based on message received Its essentially going to be an opt-in service for a small community to allow them to relay important messages to the community. Weather is really really bad out there, the only constant at times is the mobile network. So Whats the best kit in terms of card/phones either usb or PCI Can I do all this using Kannel?
