For me it looks like you are using the latest unstable/development
release of Kannel that is downloaded via CVS. I suspect that latest
development release requires libxml version 2.6.0.
You should try installing latest stable release of Kannel which is
1.4.1. at http://www.kannel.org/download.shtml, remember it is STABLE
release not DEVELOPMENT!
