okay, everyone's been so patient with all my dlr questions thank you!
the last remaining issue is this intermittent problem:

this doesn't seem to happen with any consistent conditions (such as heavy
server load) and it works most of the time.
can anyone think why it might occur? the kannel bearer box and the web
server handling the dlr's are on the same LAN.
