I wished to be that simple.
The fact is that normally the network operator would not allow mobile
phones to access mms-content stored outside their network, unless you
reach to some kind of agreement with them.
Other direction to be investigated although impractical, is to modify
the mms settings of the receiving phone to point to your server,
instead of theirs.
Second, check mbuni, which I understand to be developed from Kannel but
as far as I know is only for MM7 protocol, which means again an
agreement with the network operator.

One phone I have actually loads this as a picture message, but refuses
to open it, most phones never even hit the web-server hosting the MMS
message (hence why I don't need the MMSC, I'm just SENDING MMS message
notifications with kannel, the messages are hosted on a regular
website)

weeks...
