yep, version clash. Seems like the msg struct from the older Fedora 6
installation you used was from an older Kannel version.
And the recent CVS HEAD msg struct definition seems to be different.
That's why the bearerbox panics while msg_unpack() is performed.
Actually it's "not possible" to migrate and store file to an newer
version, at least not with standard boarding tools. You would need to
read in the "old" msg struct and migrate to the new.
