Hi all
I have a kannel test setup and can connect and communicate with the box
using an Opennwave simulator.
I now want to use a phone/modem to communicate with the box.
I tries different settings but is unable to communicate. If I look at the
bearerbox screen I sometimes see that the phone/modem is connected. But no
requests are processed. I see this if I use the bearerbox port as part of
the connection string.
Can someone please tell me what setting to use to connect to the box using a
phone/modem.
the normal Kannel WAP gateway serves as WAP 1.2.1 compliant gateway. So
your phone will need to send WTP/WDP datagrams to port 9200 or 9201 to
the bearerbox daemon, which then forwards to wapbox, which does the HTTP
URL lookup and responds the results.
So the answer is: it depends what kind of phone you have. If it's a more
recent phone which supports WAP 2.0, so pure HTTP proxy'ing is done,
then the normal Kannel won't help you, since Kannel is not having the
WAP 2.0 gateway parts.
In case you need a full features carrier grade gateway, please consider
the Kannel CG WAP 1.2.1/2.0 gateway, which includes various extentions
and a whole WAP stack rewrite, including WAP 2.0 proxy mode and RADIUS
accounting proxy daemon. This is a commercial add-on product considered
for mobile network operators who want to migrate.
Please let us (or if it is business confidential to me personally) know
for which purpose you are building the Kannel testbed scenario.
Regards,
Stipe
