Hi, Kannel is very stable, and under CPU or memory limitations it will just slow down (at least in solaris). It doesn't crush and stores messages on disk, in case it does. Throughput depends on what you want to do. MO is roughly half the MT. Depends also if you are asking about wap or sms. Maximum that it can reach (no network delays) for small MO wap pages (< 1KB) wsp, no SSL, is 500 - 600 TPS.
