No, I am very serious. Without logs I don't even bother looking at it. And I've been writing software for ~30 yrs.

Are you kidding me? Look I've written software for 15 years, if you don't understand the concept of something failing silently then you shouldn't be trying to help.

The behavior is that Kannel is not picking up incoming SMS messages, this lack of activity is the problem, the error you seek. Obviously Kannel can't throw an error for something it doesn't know it is missing.

If you are actually trying to help and not just pose as helping, perhaps you could advice on what AT commands are at play to have GSM modems push incoming messages to Kannel and suggested ways of debugging said behavior via minicom. If you don't know, then perhaps you should just resist the temptation to reply.

I don't know what you are talking about, but without logs showing an error, we cannot help you.

Well the problem is that lots of SMS messages were being sent to that number but not detected.. I'm wondering if there is maybe a different AT command I should be issuing, as obviously the messages are no longer being passed through after the very start.

Hi,
 That's grand, but I don't see any problem in your logs!

    Howdy All,

I am having a problem where SMS's stop being received after a minute or two of inactivity. Receiving the messages works fine immediately
    after startup but then nothing.

    This is using a Sierra Wireless 875 PCMCIA aircard, using the
    following config. Log is attached below showing reception of one
    message, but then nothing even though the keep-alive messages are
    ACK'ing ok.

    group = smsc
    smsc = at
    modemtype = auto
    device=/dev/ttyUSB0
    my-number = 12063595733
    connect-allow-ip = 127.0.0.1
    keepalive=60
    log-level = 0

    I'm using a 60 second keepalive but that doesn't seem to be
    helping.  Any other ideas?
