Hi Nikos, the libiconv that gets delivered with AIX is horribly broken... that's why the different sources...I'll check the config logs tomorrow - I didn't notice anything while compiling though...I'm on vacation Friday and I doubt if I'll have time for a packet trace tomorrow... we'll see in October... thanks for the help, Howard
