Hi, A direct link to an SMSc is controlled by your throughput parameter and contract that you have with that SMSc. No such parameter is set for GSM modems (aka mobiles). For low volumes these might be even cheaper to use. However, if you exceed a certain traffic limit they may disable your SIM.
Taking these constraints in mind, response is always better with the direct link, although SMS delivery is not real time and depends on availability of the recipient.
