well I already had printed the user guide and used it to setup Kannel.

my config right now is as simple as it comes - I set the modems group to auto 
and did an include "etc/kannel/modems.conf" (yes, I moved the modems.conf file 
over!) bearerbox recognizes the modem as a wavecom loads the drivers. my 
problem is when bearerbox starts giving the AT commands to get the modem ready 
for sms; my modem doesn't use +CMGF.

with +CMEE turned on, I get +CME ERROR:3 when I run +CMGF? which means the 
command isn't supported. My modem sends sms without needing to go into text 
mode. (CDMA)

I read last night from Kannel's status page that bearerbox doesn't support SMS 
over CDMA currently - is this true?  are there any workarounds?
