unable to compile kannel from source

hey folks i have for some time been trying to compile kannel from the 
source code due to the fact that the rpm i successfully could send and 
receive messages into the system but lacked mysql support which is the 
heart of my project.consequently i decided that i should compile kannel 
from source which miserably presented me with a lot of trouble as it 
kept telling me that it was unable to find mysql client libraries 
whenever i run the configure command with mysql.if anyone has managed 
to compile and install kannel from source on fedora core with mysql 
support please provide me the neccessary steps you undertook as for the 
userguide guidelines there has been no fruition for me.what i 
desperately want is to connect kannel with mysql.
