Hi,

You cannot send an SMS without an SMSc. Its function is to send it over phone lines (SS7), implement routing (HLR) to find best routes, and do some other housekeeping functions (forward DLRs, retry if there is no response, etc.). Even in the case that you use your mobile phone, at the other end your provider has setup an SMSc. SMPP is the second most popular protocol needed to communicate with that SMSc. For a complete list of available protocols, read the UG.

Nikos

Subject: SMPP service useful? based on my needs

What is the use SMPP service? I see that many people use.
I currently only need to send and receive messages correctly.
Although that still will not succeed. Like I'm intrigued
Thank you very much
