Odd characters appearing in SMSC user-name field

Hi All,

I have recently changed to another SMSC provider, however this provider 
uses a hyphen (-) in the username field. When I check the username in 
the /status page I see the following: â^' where the hyphen should be.

I.e. user-name would become: userâ^'name

What should I do to avoid this happening? I have tried to make it a 
string literal by enclosing it in quotes yet the same happens.
