Hi I'm trying to set up a connection to an SMPP gateway using kannel 1.5.0 as a client. Unfortunately the particular gateway (MTN IWS, South Africa) I'm connecting to appears to require that a) I explicitly set the sender address myself, and b) that I use a different sender address depending on the destinations's prefix.
I can easily achieve a) by using global-sender and/or faked-sender. However, that doesn't help with b). I can achieve b) by using a different sendsms-user for each sender and used faked-sender to set it, but this requires that my users are aware of and know which prefixes should go to which sendsms-user. What I'd like is a single sendsms-user that can send to any number (prefix) without the end user needing to know anything about the underlying routing or the sender number. Thus I need a way to set the sender number based on the destination prefix. I can't see any way of doing this explicitly, within either the sendsms-user or smsc groups. Have I missed something? One way I thought of to work around this is to create a separate smsc group for each set of prefixes, controlling entry with allowed-prefix. However, so far as I can tell, there is no way to force an explict sender in an an SMPP smsc group. Does anyone know of a way to do this? - Guy -- Manager: Systems, IT Division, Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa Email: [email protected] Web: http://mombe.org/ IRC: [email protected] *** ANSI Standard Disclaimer *** J.A.P.H
