Those sites have upstream providers (telecom providers) who give them SMPP
API for sending SMS. They probably take care of the messaging cost by
showing ads (and bulk message rates from providers are cheap anyway).
You have to connect to a telecom provider (either directly, or indirectly
using messaging solution providers) to send SMS, either by using their SIM,
or directly using their SMPP API. You can't avoid that.
