Dear Pamela,
Initially LISPmob was created as an implementation of the LISP-MN draft.
Due to there are not many differences between LISP and LISP-MN, we
decided in version 0.3.0 to extend our implementation so now LISPmob can
work as a LISP-MN (mn mode) or as a common LISP xTR (router mode). This
last functionality can only be implemented in a linux box or an openWRT
routers but not in Android devices . At least in the unrooted version of
Android.
As originally we were just an implementation of LISP-MN, many people
still think that we are only a mobile node implementation but as you can
see this is not longer true. Moreover, in a few month we have planed to
release a new restructured version of LISPmob which will also implement
the functionalities of Map Server, Map Resolver, PxTR and RTR.
I hope I helped to clarify your view of the LISPmob project. Let me know
if you need extra information
Best regards
Albert

Dear Albert,
I just saw your posting on the lispmob.org list, and I thought you could help
me with a simple question.
As I understand LISP Mobile Node, it is a way of implementing mobility that is
independent of routing. The only essential components are LISP-MN clients on
the endpoints, and a map server or servers to implement the directory.
So my simple question is: what is a LISPmob router? It doesn't seem to have
any place in LISP-MN.
Thank you very much for your help! We are trying to understand and use LISPmob
components, and the more we understand, the better.
Best regards,
